The short circuit protection will safeguard itself and the tow vehicle against any harmful electrical shorts or miswire situations.The tail light circuit has been upgraded to work with vehicles using PWM, which is pulse with modulation, allowing this converter to fully turn on, giving your trailer lights full brightness during activation. It's a nice black plastic construction. Helps eliminate any rusting. It enhances the appearance, and prevents difficulty in plug removal.it does have this nice, when you open the lid, there's a little latch under here. The safety latch will ensure that when you plug in your trailer connector, that it stays plugged into the socket.What I'm going to do now is just show you the inside of it. Today we're taking a look at the Curt 4-pole to 7- and 4-pole adapter. Now this unit adapts a standard 4-way flat connector on your vehicle, to both a 7-way RV, and a 4-way flat connector. So this gives you the convenience of having both connector styles available at the back of your vehicle when you tow a trailer. This is really handy if you're towing different trailers, like you're towing maybe a trailer that just uses a 4-way and then you're switching over to towing a trailer that has a 7-way. This is really nice because now you have both options available at the back of your vehicle.I do want to point out that each connector has a really nice cover that goes over, and keeps the connector clean when they're not in use. Trailer Wiring Harness Installation - 2012 Chevrolet Malibu- Video
Speaker 1: Today on this 2012 Chevrolet Malibu, we're going to review and install the Upgraded Circuit Protected ModuLite with 4 Pole Harness, part number 119179KIT.Let's go ahead and take a quick look at the ModuLite itself. This is going to be a great addition to your vehicle when you pull a trailer. First off, you notice it's got a protector here and it's labeled right here. That means that if there's any shorts or problems on the trailer, this module protects the vehicle from any shorts or damages. To give you an idea how it all works, our module is actually powered by your battery and from these input wires here, from the car, what happens is that the box will actually copy the signal and then send, using battery power, send it out to your trailer. So that way, again, if there's any problems with the trailer, it's limited to here and that's where it stops.Couple of neat things inside the box that protect the vehicle is it has a resettable breaker on the inside that's totally automatic, so you just let it sit for awhile and reset. more

Trailer Wiring Harness Installation - 2010 Land Rover LR2- Video
Speaker 1: Today on our 2010 Land Rover LR2 we're going to take a look and show you how to install the TEKONSHA Upgraded Circuit Protected ModuLite with 4 Pole Harness and Hardwire Kit. The part number is 119179KIT.Now this upgraded ModuLite kit allows us to add a 4 pole connector to the back of our LR2. Now we have to use the hardwire kit because there just aren't kits readily available on the market that allow you to just have the plug-and-play. Now the importance of having a ModuLite kit rather than just hard-wiring directly to your wires is that this helps to do a few things. This is going to isolate the trailer side from the vehicle side so if there are shorts or failures on your trailer those aren't going to be transferred into your vehicle's lighting system.Also, this is powered by a standalone 12V power source, we're going to run this up to the battery and also grounded to the vehicle's body. It's only using the lighting system of your vehicle for this switch signals. more

Speaker 1: Today we're gonna be taking a look at the Hopkins endurance four-way flat trailer wiring harness that's 30 feet long, part number HM48265.If you're looking to rewire your trailer because of maintenance, the wires may be getting old, or if you're building a trailer and need to wire it up, our Hopkins endurance four-pole flat wiring harness is gonna be a good choice. It is gonna provide us with a four-pole flat trailer connector, making it easy to hook up to our towing vehicle. It's gonna have a wishbone Y design, which means that we're gonna have our left brake and turn signal along with our taillight signal as separate from our right brake and turn signal and another taillight signal, so we're not gonna have to worry about jumping across the trailer. It's gonna be extremely easy to hook up. You just run one side, run to the other side, and we have all our light functions going to each side. The ground wire is gonna be 36 inches long, so we're gonna have plenty of room to find a nice grounding point towards the front of our trailer.The total length of the harness is gonna be 30 feet, which will be more than enough for this small boat trailer. more

Curt 7-Way RV-Style Trailer Connector Review- Video
Speaker 1: Today we're gonna take a look at the CURT seven-way RV style trailer connector for the vehicle end, part number C58155. So here's what our seven-way wiring connector is gonna look like once we have it installed. We chose to mount it in our truck bed for fifth wheel and gooseneck wiring, although you can mount it at the back of your car for a replacement or an addition to have your trailer connected. It's gonna have a nice, spring-loaded door, so we're not gonna have to worry about closing it. It will close on its own, as well as a nice seal to keep all the moisture and debris from getting inside of our connector.It's a seven-way connector, so it is gonna give us all of our lighting functions, brakes, taillights, turn signals, reverse lights, as well as a 12-volt power source and our trailer brakes if we have a controller installed. A nice feature is it does have that latch like most seven-way connectors to, so once you plug in your connector and this door closes on top, it'll keep it from coming out. more

Bargman 7-Way RV-Style Connector Review- Video

They're available in 3 different sizes, in 6 foot with part number 54006-057, in 8 foot, part number 54006-058, and then finally in 10 foot, part number 54006-059. This 7-way is excellent as a replacement or if you're wiring up a new trailer. It's a pre-wired, 7 blade style connector. The cable itself is flexible so it's easy to position, and the insulated jacket is ideal for cold weather. Trailer Wiring Harness Adapter Installation - 2013 Infiniti JX35- Video
Speaker 1: Today on our 2013 Infinity JX35, we're going to be taking a look at and showing you how to install the Hopkins four pole to seven pole and four pole adapter, part number 37185. This adapter converts from a four pole wiring on your vehicle to a seven pole connection with a four pole flat connection. Additional wire leads for brake power and accessories are included for the true seven way connection.Now our customer already has an existing four pole. So what we're going to do is we're going to remove this bracket and take this four pole loose. Now that I have this loose, I'm going to come back here behind. I'm going to undo the wire tires, this should give me a little bit of extra wire. more

EZ Connector to 7-Way RV Adapter Review- Video
Speaker 1: Today we're going to be taking look at the easy connectors male to female adapters. For your seven way, part number 319-R7-52 for your six way, part number 319-R7-56, for your five way, part number 319-R7-55 and finally for your four way, it's going to be part number 319-R7-54.So here are our trailer ends, we've got a standard seven blade connector. On our vehicle end, we've got a magnetic easy connector seven way. No problem, this is where our easy connector to seven way comes in handy.With it in place, we're able to use any standard seven way connector. Now, if you have a six pole connection, such as for flat towing, it's going to have all the same features and you're going to have the correct adaptor.The same goes for our five and four pole connections, keep in mind though, you may not want to keep it in place when it's not in use, as the connection points are exposed.This is going to come in handy when towing multiple trailers, some of which don't have an easy connector.With that it place, it's going to offer you the same magnetic connectivity as an easy connector. The double O rings are going to provide for a water tight seal.And that's going to complete our look at the easy connector male to female adapters.. more

Overall I just really like the look of the connector. It has a lot of the same features as most of the ones on the market like the door and the gasket but it just has more of a finished look to me, a little bit more rounder edges, and not so much of that blocky square look.I do want to mention that the hardware is not included and any kind of brackets to get it mounted up are not included either, but you can pick up both of those on our website and we have a wide variety of brackets to get it mounted to the back of your bumper or right here in the bed of your truck.Now that we've gone over some of the features and seen what it looks like let's show you how to get it installed. more

It's made from a durable molded plastic construction. Your trailer wiring hard wires to each terminal located inside the connector. To gain access to those, you need to undo this screw right here.
